2019 Virginia Governor's Technology Awards winners, by category
Even though innovation may not be the first word associated with government, there are 22 Virginia agencies, localities and universities whose recognition today tells a different story.
These public service standouts were honored with Governor's Technology Awards in nine categories for their innovative approaches to improving government service delivery.
Trophies were presented at a special ceremony at the Commonwealth of Virginia Innovative Technology Symposium (COVITS) by Northam's Secretary of Administration Dr. Keyanna Conner and Chief Information Officer of the Commonwealth Nelson Moe.
"It is important that government seeks innovative solutions for initiatives that matter to our citizens," said Governor Ralph Northam, who sponsored the awards. "From using data and analytics to help solve the opioid crisis to improving the cybersecurity of our elections, these projects improve Virginia."
"These information technology (IT) projects and especially the employees who made them happen deserve our attention and to be honored for their efforts," noted Secretary Conner. "I am very proud of these winners. It is exciting to see innovation at work in these projects."
